How to learn 44 Thai Alphabets
The Thai alphabet
It has 44 consonant symbols (Thai: พยัญชนะ, phayanchana), 15 vowel symbols (Thai: สระ, sara) that combine with 28 vowel symbols and four tone diacritics (Thai: วรรณยุกต์ or วรรณยุต, wannayukor wannayut) to create characters mostly representing syllables.
In Thai we have 5 tones
( – ) Normal,N( Middle,M) – the word has a neutral, flat pitch. All English is mid toned.
( ่ ) Low,L – pitch of the word goes down. Imagine a word that is trailing off.
( ้ ) Falling,F – pitch of the word goes up, then down. Think Doppler Effect – the sound of a train horn going up then down as it passes by
( ๊ ) High,H – pitch of the word goes up. Similar to the upward inflection when asking a question.
( ๋ ) Rising,R – pitch of the word goes down, then up. The word has a dip to it.

To aid learning, each consonant is traditionally associated with an acrophonic Thai word that either starts with the same sound, or features it prominently. For example, the name of the letter ข is kho khai (ข ไข่), in which kho is the sound it represents, and khai (ไข่) is a word which starts with the same sound and means “egg”.
